My heart became a little sore the other day. Anthropologie had textiles by Ruth Ashton- Monsters of the Household Variety. This is truly a fascinating book and collection of art. Each print is hand sewn, stitched, and embellished. The book itself is a whopping $1200.00, but Anthropologie had each separate monster framed for still a somewhat outlandish $298.00.
I waited patiently for them to go on sale since they continued to be in stock. I stopped checking because after weeks and weeks nothing changed... then all of a sudden I remember my little monsters. GASP! They were no longer there, they had gone on sale for a third of their original price. Allus Goneus and the other Hideous Iticous (with the feathered arm pits) can no longer be found.
I tried desperately to locate the little fellows at Anthropologie stores, but to no avail. I will say I reached out to Ruth personally, she responded within a couple of days. She was very accomdating and you can actually purchase the prints directly though her, unfortunateyl the only size she does custom are a little out of my price range. It wasn't meant to be for right now. I'm sure some other creatures will pop up eventually.
